A tradition dating back to 1959, the Royal Transfer of Office honors St. Augustine’s deep Spanish roots. Each year, three heritage natives are chosen to portray King Carlos II, Queen Marianna, and Princess Margarita Maria. These figures represent St. Augustine at key events throughout the year. The ceremony includes a formal handover of the crown and a historical reenactment — a must-see for history buffs and anyone interested in St. Augustine’s Spanish heritage.

This centuries-old tradition welcomes commercial and pleasure boats to receive a blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine.
